In a horrific incident that took place in Tshidimbini village outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo, a 38-year-old man was apprehended for the brutal act of severing the head of his elder brother, who was 41 years old. The violence did not stop there; he also assaulted his younger sister, aged 32, and her 10-year-old daughter. The motive behind this gruesome attack was the accused’s belief that his siblings were engaging in witchcraft against him.
The altercation that led to this tragic event unfolded in the early hours of a Monday, escalating into a heated argument between the two brothers. During this confrontation, the suspect leveled accusations of witchcraft against his elder brother and younger sister, sparking a violent conflict within the family.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they were met with a chilling sight. The victim’s head was found positioned on a large stone outside the family residence, while inside the house, the decapitated body of the 41-year-old man was discovered, bound with a rope. The perpetrator was promptly taken into custody and now faces serious charges of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Authorities also confiscated a number of dangerous implements used in the assault, including a hammer, a spade, and a sharp knife.

Itani Nenguda, chairperson of the Real Mean Foundation, expressed disbelief at the incident and stressed the importance of seeking help and resolving domestic issues through communication rather than resorting to such extreme measures. Limpopo’s provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned the brutality of the attack and assured the public of justice for the victims.
